Together we can beat autism

Chyron has been teaching Atreus to shave using shaving cream and a plastic spoon. It is so cute! He sits on a stool in the bathroom and shaves his face then he fills his cup with water and dumps it in the sink. He gets to shave with his Papa and he gets some water play!

Atreus has a ladder on the tree that he loves to climb! We decided we need to come up with something he could climb because he used to try to climb the fence over and over but since we have put his ladder up he hasn't tried climbing the fence as much!

Zoo days...

Candice and I took the boys to the zoo on Thursday and it was a blast! Atreus started off only paying attention to his rope but when we got to the monkeys that all changed! First, he said "up Mama" then once I was holding him he pointed at a monkey that was sitting and said "sit down monkey"! He is putting 3 words together all on his own! This therapy is a miracle! It truly is! He is progressing everyday! He made it all the way through zoo without bumping into other kids or hitting.

Instead of being aggressive with cousins he would walk up to them and very softly touch their shoulders. He was being very sweet to them! Just one more way he is progressing! Thank you to everyone who has decided to be a part of Atreus' journey! All of your help is already paying off!

Pump It Up!

We took Atreus to Pump It Up Jr to play the other day and got a few cute pictures for we quickly had to leave. Atreus made it about 20 minutes before we had to leave. We think pump it up may just be too stimulating for him. It seems like he just can't control himself as he goes running through there. He starts knocking kids over then headbutting them. A little too much aggression so the new plan is to take him in for 15 minutes at a time until he is ready for more. We would skip taking him completely except for the fact that he LOVES the slides and obstacle course and we think it's just going to be beneficial if we try to control the environment for him.

Day 2 of In-Home Therapy!

Yesterday was Atreus' 2nd day of in-home therapy. It went really well! When Kimberly walked in the door Atreus dropped what he was doing and went straight to her. Atreus started saying "I want bubbles" and "I want bike"! More 3 word phrases! Next week our 2nd in-home therapist will start and it looks like Atreus will have them working with him 5 days a week! Things are coming right along. I want to thank everyone has taken part in this and those of you that are helping us make this possible for Atreus! I will keep you all posted!

Today was another huge day for us. We found our 2nd in-home therapist and she is wonderful! We are so excited to start working with her next week. Everyday we are making huge steps forward in this process. It took Atreus no time at all to warm up to her and start playing which is a great sign! I know I keep telling everyone this but our team is absolutely amazing and everyone brings something a little different to the table. We are so fortunate to be where we are now.

I am going to crawl into bed and get some shut eye while little man is asleep. I will post more soon.

1st day of in-home therapy!

So much has changed in our lives lately. We came across the most amazing psychologist for Atreus who has been such a blessing to us in the short time we have been seeing her. She has put together an in home therapy program for Atreus and then went looking for the perfect people to bring on board to be a part of our team. We now have one therapist and we are interviewing a second one tomorrow. Today was the 1st therapists day and it was great. Atreus only took a couple minutes to warm up to her then he wouldn't let go. I know that this is going to be a long journey but it is starting out amazing and we feel so fortunate to have all these people helping us along the way.

On Saturday Atreus started putting 3 words together. He started saying "Sit down, Mama" and Sit down, Papa". That alone is Atreus moving forward in leaps and bounds.

I want to thank everyone who has been buying baked goods and donating to help us be able to follow through with the in-home therapy. We will updating the blog often so check back to read the latest on how Atreus is progressing.

Thanks again for being a part in helping Atreus meet his full potential!
